NEW KINGDOM FORUM
~~*~~
This is a roleplaying site based on the Old Kingdom trilogy by Garth Nix; Sabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen. It is a literate roleplaying site meaning that you must be able to keep up and post decent length posts with adequate spelling and grammar. No-one is perfect so we over-look most typoes. It is set in the future though there are still a few past character that are playable. To roleplay one of them please ask permission before doing so.
- - The Setting
It is ten years after the death of King Touchstone I and his Abhorsen Queen Sabriel. After Touchstone was killed by a member of the Greater Dead in battle, Sabriel used the bell Astarael to send his killed far past the Ninth Gate, along with herself. Now Ellimere is the Queen of the Old Kingdom, living in Belisaere with the new Abhorsen Lirael, her husband Nicholas Sayre and their son Ilorin, when he is not studying at Wyverley College now made co-ed.
The Old Kingdom is still the same as always as is Ancelstierre. Dead creatures rise and then fall at the bells of Lirael, who has become just as accomplished at her task as Sabriel was. Ilorin has been training for some years to become her successor. Everything is at peace with the world. The Plot - -Something however is now disturbing that peace. A Charter Stone has been broken. It is one of the lesser ones, far from Belisaere but it is still the first time one has been broken since King Touchstone repaired them all during his reign. When Lirael goes to investigate she arrives back sometime later by cart- she left by Paperwing- fatally wounded. She now resides in the underground reservoir where the healing properties of the Greater Charter Stones keep her alive. Ilorin has been sent from Ancelstierre to take her place.
Ilorin is young for an Abhorsen but has been trained from a young age and knows how to handle the job. The only thing he lacks is experience... and bells. It is now Ilorin's task to make it back to Belisaere, collect his own sets of bells and follow the same path his mother did to that mysteriously broken Charter Stone. But how can he, and the next generation of Charter Mage's help against this new threat, when it is strong enough to nearly kill Lirael? With their best ally dying, how can they possible do their job and successful push this new menace back through the gates of death from whence it came...?
This is a literate site for literate roleplayers. Be sure that you can keep up before you join. That means active membership and decent length posts with accurate spelling and grammar. No-one's perfect so typoes are over-looked within reason. There are links to my other sites on this one. You do not have to have read the books to join this site. There is a thread with basic information to get you started.
